Target Audience: Residential, small commercial and small institutional building owners, occupants, and workforce in Spokane, King, Snohomish and Pierce counties

Objective: Ramp up delivery of local family-wage jobs, energy efficiency projects and renewable energy generation through a community-based model that drives demand, removes industry barriers and directs resources to make program goals achievable for all members of the population with additional attention to moderate-income homeowners. SW seeks to expand long-term operational and fiscal viability for community-based energy efficiency throughout the state of Washington by expanding an entry-level workforce pipeline, credit-enhanced financing programs, and supporting uniform industry specifications.

Strategies:
SW works to achieve these strategies through a sophisticated mixed-delivery model that includes targeted community organizing, education, direct incentives, site assessments, deep retrofits, utility-funded programs, financing, workforce development, program management and community partnerships.
Sustainable Works

Success Story

SustainableWorks

Darrel McLaughlin has been a union electrician with IBEW 191 in Everett for over 10 years. After months of unemployment resulting from the economic downturn, Darrel attended SustainableWorks trainings, became a BPI certified auditor and proctor, and is now also a SustainableWorks instructor. In addition to his work with SustainableWorks, Darrel is also an active reverend, husband,
father and grandpa.

The work created by the SustainableWorks project made it possible for Darrel to get back to work and support his family.
