Target Audience: Homes and small businesses in Thurston County

Objective: Create and retain contractor and vendor jobs to grow a sustainable energy retrofit industry and workforce in Thurston County by performing comprehensive energy audits and facilitating residential and commercial energy efficiency upgrades throughout entire county. Provide education, marketing and outreach to homeowners and businesses to communicate the value of energy efficiency.

Strategy: Conduct community-wide marketing and outreach campaigns, such as workshops on energy efficiency, targeted mass-mailings, canvassing neighborhoods and work with diverse local organizations (i.e. business, environmental, government, utilities and grass-roots), to enable individual actions related to energy efficiency. Create market for local, private companies to perform comprehensive energy audits and residential and commercial energy efficiency upgrades throughout entire county. Provide contractor training, and organize vendor network and appliance replacement program in cooperation with local utilities and contractors. Design development strategy and develop sources of financial support by working with local lending institutions to promote and create energy efficiency and renewable energy loan products.

Success Story

Thurston County Economic Development Council

The Commercial Services Division of Thurston Energy is currently working with West Coast Bank to finalize implementation of energy savings measures.

As a result of addressing inefficiencies in HVAC operation, lighting, and water usage, current projections estimate a $4,000 reduction in annual operating costs.
