Award Category: Leadership in Energy Performance

The Leadership in Energy Performance Award recognizes leadership by a Washington industry that has achieved the greatest reduction in energy intensity site-wide over the past two years. This award focuses on an organization’s continuous improvement in energy performance over time at a whole-plant level. Energy intensity metrics should be normalized for production or other key energy drivers (e.g., X million Btu per thousand widgets).

To nominate a company:

Complete the following form and click Submit to indicate your intent to nominate a company. You will then be taken to a new page that you need to print and mail in with your completed nomination packet. See below for items to include in your nomination packet.

  • Only Submittals featuring projects or efforts undertaken by a single plant will be considered for an award: multiple plants as one application are not eligible.
  • If your project appears to qualify in more than one category, it is recommended that you submit an application in both categories. The selection committee will determine the best fit for the application.
Deadline for packet submission: November 22, 2013

Nomination packet should include:

√ A printed copy of this page.
√ Answers to the following questions (up to three pages total):

  1. How does your plant or facility use energy? List major energy-using systems and key drivers for energy use (such as production, weather, etc.)
  2. Describe the system or model(s) you use to monitor and track the results of energy performance improvements. Define how your energy intensity metric is calculated. Who does this at your company and how often?
  3. Provide information about the baseline period that your improvements are being measured against.
  4. What is your % of energy intensity reduction since the baseline period?
  5. Provide a brief explanation of how these energy savings were achieved. What systems were impacted?
  6. What are the annual kWh, Btu, therm or cost savings associated with your energy performance improvements?

√ Optional – Up to 10 additional pages of supporting documentation to validate your energy performance improvement statistics.
