Hydrogen and Renewable Fuels—2024

This January 2024 Legislative Report on Green Electrolytic Hydrogen and Renewable Fuels Recommendations for Deployment in Washington from the Washington Department of Commerce details how hydrogen can play an important role in Washington’s economy as we work to eliminate use of fossil fuels. Commerce states that Washington must prioritize hydrogen for the most strategic uses, ensure adequate supplies of clean electricity for hydrogen production, and focus on environmental justice considerations.

Improving Air Quality in Washington’s Overburdened Communities—2025

The Washington State Department of Ecology is working on improving air quality in 16 communities that are identified as both overburdened and highly impacted by criteria air pollution. The 16 focus communities of this study hold more than 1.2 million people, or about 15.5% of the population of Washington. A 2025 report shares new data about the impacts of air pollution as well as signs of progress around the state.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has developed and submitted the Washington State National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Deployment Plan Update, as well as other EV Infrastructure plans.
